Rust and Skin (2008)
Rust and Skin; a photographic exploration of the textures of life and decay
Photography Exhibition - 20 September – 5 October 2008
Old Engineers Building, Callan Park, Rozelle, 2141
In a modern world of plastics, glass and steel, decay has become taboo. In the forgotten corners of our urban environment, skeletons of obsolete industry and habitation hold testament to nature’s victory over human construction.
Ten young Sydney based photographers come together in an exhibition entitled ‘Rust and Skin’; to explore the living textures of the urban and physical environment. The works include urban-industrial landscapes, urban portraiture, street-scapes, recycled sculptures and the urban underground. Each photographer has brought a unique interpretation to the theme ‘Rust and Skin’.
The exhibition took place in the historic Callan Park, in the disused buildings of the now obsolete Rozelle Mental Hospital.
